Description
The presented paper shows a curated dataset of road-traffic, gathered in 2015, to assist the research in vehicle detection, traffic density estimation, and intelligent transportation analytics. The data is a video recording that was taken in signalized crossroads, freeways, and city streets under different light conditions, weather and traffic conditions. It contains examples of various types of vehicles, obstructions, and lane manners, and peak-hour traffic examples, which makes it possible to benchmark the current computer-vision models. Data handling protocols, anonymity, and strict data handling protocols were adhered to maintain privacy and ethical usage. This data can be relied upon as a real-world basis in the formation of optimal traffic surveillance models, smart-city applications, and sophisticated decision-support systems related to law enforcement and transportation authorities.The authors would like to acknowledge the assistance of Coimbatore Police Department, Tamil Nadu, India, who gave them access to the real-world traffic surveillance sites and provided them with the possibility to collect road-traffic video data safely. Their collaboration and support played a crucial role in facilitating the development of this data set and at the same time made sure that all the safety, privacy, and ethical rules were observed.
